Jeetpursimara Gold Cup: Police in semi-finals

Simara: Nepal Police Club has entered the semi-finals of the 14th jagdamba Jeetpursimara Gold Cup by defeating the organizers. Police defeated the host Nawa Janajagriti Yuwa Club by 2-1 in the match held at Simara Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ujwal Rai scored two goals for the police while securing a place in the last four. Mohit Gurung scored a goal for the organizer team.

Police took the lead in the third minute of the competitive match. Sujan Magar beat the defender and Ujwal finished the pass. Two minutes later, the hosts returned to the game.

After Niraj Khadka of the police tackled Mohit Gurung inside the D-box, the organizers got a penalty opportunity. Mohit did not miss the opportunity. With the penalty goal, the match reached 1-1.

Ujwal scored the second goal in the 19th minute of the game. Taking advantage of the weakness of the host’s defender, Ujwal brought the game to a 2-1 status. After taking the lead in the game, the police appeared defensive.

The hosts, who had a great game against the strong police, played an aggressive game in the second half but could not score. Police’s Ujwal Rai was declared ‘shubharambha player of the match’. He won Rs.10,000.

Under the competition, the final quarterfinal match will be played between the departmental team Nepal APF Club and Friends Club on Thursday.
