Eight Arrested in Siraha for Human Trafficking and Forced Prostitution

Siraha: Siraha Police have apprehended eight individuals across various locations in the district for their alleged involvement in human trafficking and the operation of forced prostitution rings.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities, authorities conducted raids targeting several hotels and private residences, leading to the arrest of hotel operators and their accomplices.

In Lahan Municipality 8, police detained local resident Dilip Sah and his wife, Sunita Sah. They are accused of luring three women into prostitution through financial exploitation. The District Court has granted a five-day remand to allow for further investigation into their activities.

Similarly, at the ‘Online Hotel and Lodge’ in Lahan 3, the proprietor, 40-year-old Archana Kumari Chaudhary, was arrested alongside three young men from Saptari, 21-year-old Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, 20-year-old Nitik Kumar Chaudhary and 19-year-old Akash Chaudhary. The group is accused of forcing four women into the trade, they are currently being held on a seven-day judicial remand.

Further enforcement actions took place at the ‘Khushbu Hotel and Lodge’ in Dhangadhimai Municipality 11. Police arrested the hotel operator, 34-year-old Gujjeshwar Sah, and his associate, 38-year-old Shivkumar Yadav of Saptari, for allegedly forcing two women into prostitution. Like the others, they face human trafficking charges and have been remanded for seven days.

In compliance with legal protections, Siraha Police stated that the identities of all rescued women are being kept confidential under pseudonyms as they receive necessary support and the legal proceedings move forward.
