4th Everest Open Taekwondo Championship to Bring Over 450 Athletes to Baltimore

Baltimore, Maryland: One of the region’s largest martial arts events, the 4th Everest Open Taekwondo Championship, is set to take place on May 16, 2026, at the CCBC Catonsville Community College – Jack Manley Wellness and Athletic Center in Catonsville, Maryland.

Organizers have announced that more than 450 athletes from across the United States are expected to participate in the championship, representing states including Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Kentucky. The event will feature talented competitors of all ages competing in various divisions of sparring and poomsae while promoting sportsmanship, discipline, leadership, and cultural unity through Taekwondo.

The event is hosted by Everest World Class Taekwondo with support from the Everest Taekwondo Care Foundation. The championship will feature competitions in World Class Sparring (WT & USAT Rules), Open Sparring, World Taekwondo Sport Poomsae, and Traditional Taekwondo Forms.

To ensure high-level officiating standards, internationally and nationally certified referees and judges from Florida, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and California will participate in the event. The tournament will also utilize the advanced Daedo electronic scoring system for official divisions.

According to organizers, the Everest Open Taekwondo Championship has grown significantly each year and continues to serve as an important platform for athletes, coaches, and martial arts schools across the United States.

A special highlight of the event will be the scholarship presentation by the Everest Taekwondo Care Foundation to U.S. Taekwondo National Athlete and World Champion Eric Gun of New Jersey in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the sport.

The event will also feature a special Nepali cultural dance performance presented by Master Krisha and team, showcasing cultural diversity and community spirit during the championship celebration.

Organizers stated that the 4th Everest Open Taekwondo Championship is more than just a sporting event, it is a celebration of youth development, leadership, cultural diversity, and community unity through martial arts.

In addition to athletes and officials, the event is expected to welcome several distinguished VIP guests, including local politicians, community leaders, social workers, business representatives, and government officials from surrounding areas.
