The Madhesh Province level President Running Shield Selection Tournament begins today in Simara

Simara: The Madhesh Province level President Running Shield Selection Tournament is set to begin in Simara on Tuesday. The competition is being organized with the objective of selecting athletes who will represent the province in the national level President Running Shield Tournament.

Organized by the Madhesh Sports Council, the tournament will feature a total of  752 athletes competing in various sports disciplines. According to the council, 124 outstanding athletes will be selected from the event for participation in the national competition.

The tournament includes athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, taekwondo, karate, and wushu. In athletics alone, 176 athletes will compete, while taekwondo, karate, and wushu will each feature 96 participants.

Similarly, both men’s and women’s volleyball and kabaddi teams from all eight districts of Madhesh Province will participate in the tournament. Each team consists of nine players.

Speaking at a press conference held ahead of the event, Madhesh Province Sports Council Member Secretary Shivji Gupta said that all preparations for the competition have been completed.

Athletes from all eight districts have already started arriving in Simara to take part in the tournament. The athletics events will be held at the Simara Stadium.

Technical staff and officials of the Sports Council are working actively to ensure the smooth management of the tournament.

The opening ceremony of the competition will take place on Tuesday afternoon at Simara Stadium. Former Madhesh Sports Minister Pramod Jaiswal is scheduled to inaugurate the tournament.
