Simara: A one-day educational and awareness program on menstrual hygiene for teenage girls was successfully completed in Jeetpursimara-9 Chhatapipra, Bara.

Organized by the Inner Wheel Club of Birgunj with support from Lumanti (Support Group for Shelter), the event was attended by 69 out-of-school girls aged between 12 and 19 years.

The program was chaired by Dr. Priti Gupta, President of the Inner Wheel Club, with Motilal Prasad Yadav, Ward Chairperson of Jeetpursimara-9, as the chief guest. Free sanitary pads were also distributed to all participants during the event.

Ranjita Sah, a member of the Inner Wheel Club and a healthcare worker, trained the girls on personal hygiene during menstruation, safe period management, and various health aspects.

After the program, the girls said the event was very helpful for learning practical steps to stay clean and healthy during their periods and for breaking the shame and silence around menstruation.

The organizers stressed that menstruation should not only be seen as a health issue, but also linked to girls’ education, dignity, and active participation in society. They expressed confidence that such awareness campaigns will help girls get both necessary sanitary products and accurate, scientific information.
