Simara: The farmers of Bara Nijgadh, who have not received the insurance money even after years of destruction of the banana plantation, locked the office of the insurance company on Wednesday.

The farmers, who started a street struggle demanding insurance money, locked the office of Himalayan Insurance at Simara in Bara. The farmers started street struggle from Tuesday saying that they did not get the money for the insurance despite repeated demands.

Ek Bahadur Shrestha, President of Bara Banana Growers and Fruits Association Bara, said that the farmers were forced to go on strike in the run-up to the festival and locked the office for pressure. Shrestha said that after reaching the central office of the insurance company and being rejected even after repeated discussions and pressure, he had to choose the protest.

A farmer led by Shrestha came to Simara from Nijgadh to lock the office of the insurance company. By locking the office, the farmers have put up a notice saying, “It has been locked due to non-payment of banana damage insurance”.
