Three Arrested for Killing Woman During Robbery in Parsa
Birgunj: Police have arrested three youths for allegedly killing a 62-year-old woman during a robbery at her home in Dhobini Rural Municipality-5 of Parsa district.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 18-year-old Chandan Kumar Patel, 18-year-old Raj Kapoor Baitha and 18-year-old Ramu Paswan, all from the same area.
According to police, the three allegedly killed Lakharjia Devi on Asoj 5 while they were stealing from her house. Police said the suspects attacked her after she saw them and they feared that she would recognize them.
Lakharjia was found dead in the room where she had been sleeping on Monday morning. Police said cash and gold jewelry were stolen after the suspects broke open a steel cupboard and a box inside the room.
According to the investigation, the suspects allegedly planned the robbery at Baitha’s house while consuming marijuana . They entered the house by climbing over the rear wall.
Police said Lakharjia came upstairs after hearing the sound of the cupboard and box being broken. The suspects allegedly attacked her with a sharp iron object, killing her before fleeing with cash and jewelry.
Chakra Bahadur Malla, spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Parsa, said Patel was arrested in Birgunj on Friday, while Baitha and Paswan were arrested from Dhobini Rural Municipality on Saturday.
Police said they recovered stolen cash, gold jewelry, a vehicle spring leaf, pliers and a knife from the suspects. The three suspects have been remanded in custody for seven days by the court for further investigation into the murder case.
