332 people who were sentenced by the court in Bara were arrested
Kalaiya: Bara police have arrested 332 people who were absconding despite imprisonment and fines in various cases from Bara district court.
District Police Office Bara arrested those who were on the list of absconders on Monday from different places of the district and started the process of implementing the court decision.
Among those arrested are defendants who have been sentenced to imprisonment in cases ranging from simple fines to weapons and banking offences. Bara Police Spokesperson Rajesh Thapa informed that the fugitives who were sentenced to a maximum of six and a half years of imprisonment and those who were given a simple fine have been arrested and presented to the court.
According to Thapa, those arrested are Bijay Das of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan 1, who was sentenced to 6 years, 5 months and 10 days imprisonment, Ejazul Haque Ansari of Pachrauta 2, who was fined seven lakhs in the banking offense case, and Basu Chaudhary of Nijgadh 1, who was sentenced to imprisonment in the arms case.
Among those arrested, 36 people were sent to Birgunj jail and others were freed after paying the prescribed fine, Thapa said. He said that a campaign has been started to implement the court’s decision and to bring the convicted people into the legal sphere.
