Woman Arrested in Child Marriage Case
Simara: Parsa police have arrested a woman on Wednesday in connection with the crime of child marriage.
The police arrested the woman on charges of forcibly marrying off a 13-year-old minor in Shiwarwa village of Parsa. The name, surname, and residence of the arrested woman have been kept confidential.
According to the complaint received on Asar 1, the arrested woman arranged an inter-caste marriage for her underage daughter by taking cash amounting to four lakh eighty thousand rupees and showing various temptations, informed by Parsa’s spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kishor Lamsal. The man in the arranged marriage is three times older than the minor.
The arrested woman has been remanded for five more days by the Parsa District Court, and further investigation is underway.
