Himalayan Sherpa Club Lifts Jeetpursimara Gold Cup Title

Simara: Himalayan Sherpa Club has lifted the title of the Jeetpursimara Gold Cup after 13 years. In the final match held Saturday night at the Simara Stadium, Sherpa defeated Machhindra Football Club by 4–1.

Robert Khongjoh and Sameer Raj Thokar added one goal each. For Machhindra, Ranjan Pun scored the one goal.

By reclaiming the Jeetpursimara Gold Cup title after 13 years, Sherpa took home a cash prize of NPR 10 Lakh. Machhindra, finishing as runners-up for the second consecutive time, received NPR 5 Lakh.

Robert Khongjoh of Sherpa was declared the Best Player of the tournament. Hailing from Meghalaya, India, Khongjoh received an electric scooter, sponsored by VXL Education.

Khongjoh also claimed the Top Scorer title of the tournament, having scored three goals. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Sherpa’s Bibash Chaudhary, while the Best Coach was awarded to Sherpa’s Prajwal Pratap Chhetri. All individual award winners received NPR 25,000 each.

The Emerging Player of the tournament was Sherab Lo Tamang from the host team. He received NPR 15,000 in cash, which was contributed by former national player Ravi Paswan, who himself emerged from the Simara Stadium into the football.

Amit Tamang of Sherpa was named the Player of the Match in the final and received NPR 10,000 sponsored by Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. The Fair Play Award went to Salhesh Youth Club from Siraha.

The winners and runners-up were awarded their prizes by Member of Parliament and former minister Krishna Kumar Shrestha (Kisan), Madhesh Province’s Sports Minister Pramod Jaiswal, and Mayor of Jeetpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City Rajan Paudel.
