Indian Couple Found Dead in Birgunj Lodge Room

Birgunj: A dead Indian couple has been found at Nawadurga Lodge, located near Bhanu Chowk in the New Bus Park area of Birgunj.
According to the District Police Office Parsa spokesperson and Police Inspector Hari Bahadur Basnet, the bodies of 34-year-old Bapan Patra from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and his 32-year-old wife were discovered hanging from the same ceiling fan inside their hotel room.
The hotel owner stated that the couple had checked into the lodge on the morning of Chaitra 4. They later went out to the market and returned the same day. When there was no response even by late Sunday morning despite repeated knocking, the hotel management informed the police at around 11 a.m.
After breaking open the door, police found both individuals hanging from the same rope. As only Bapan Patra’s name was recorded in the lodge register and the woman’s name was not listed, police said her identity has yet to be fully confirmed.
So far, no concrete information has been obtained regarding the purpose of their visit to Birgunj or the reason behind the suspected suicide. The bodies have been sent to Narayani Hospital for post-mortem examination, and police are continuing their investigation by questioning the lodge owner and staff to gather further details.
