Simara: Local level member elections are only 11 days away. As the election draws near, all political parties are stepping up their election campaigns.

Jeetpur Simara sub-metropolitan city has five tripartite competition for the post of mayor and deputy mayor. Political parties affiliated to the five-party alliance are competing separately at the ward level.

The election atmosphere is also increasing in Ward No. 2, which is considered as an important ward of Jeetpursimara. Considered to be more convenient than other wards in various respects, this ward is made a matter of prestige by all political parties.

Meanwhile, Dhan Bahadur Shrestha from the CPN-UML, Tilak Bahadur Shrestha from the Maoist Center, Vijay Bomjan from the Nepali Congress, Netra Bahadur Shrestha from the Loktantrik Samajwadit Party and Yadav Adhikari from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party are in the fray to lead Jitpursimara 2.

Condition Of Candidates

Tilak Bahadur Shrestha is the ward chairperson elected from the CPN-Maoist center in the local election 2074 BS while Dhan Bahadur Shrestha is the ward member elected from the CPN-UML in the same election. Uddhav Prasad Gautam had given the rebel candidature on behalf of the dissidents saying that the then CPN-UML had fielded Kamala Adhikari as its ward chairman candidate. The UML was defeated because of his candidacy.

At present, Gautam has registered his candidature for the post of member of this ward on behalf of CPN-UML. Chairman of the UML Jitpursimara 2 Ward Committee, Rabindra Khakurel, said that the party was moving ahead in a united manner as there was no internal rift in the ward like in the last election. Khakurel said that the team led by Shrestha would get public opinion because of his active service to the people during his tenure as a member.

Meanwhile, the Maoist center is also busy at the door. Shrestha said that the people would trust him for another term as there was a lot of development work during his tenure.

Congress has fielded a new face in the leadership. Bijay Bomjan, who has been continuously warning on various issues of Jeetpursimara-2 lately, has been promoted by the Nepali Congress. However, the election is expected to be difficult for the party as a group within the party has expressed dissatisfaction with the distribution of tickets. Bomjan says that his team’s victory is assured as the people are looking for fresh and young people who can do some work.
