Mother killed to save share, son arrested
Simara: The mystery of a young man’s murder of his stepmother after he saw that he had to give property after citizenship has been revealed. The police have arrested her son on the charge of murdering Tetari Devi of Rangpur, Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city, who was asking for citizenship.
25-year-old Jaykishor Yadav has been arrested. Jaykishor killed Tetaridevi with a machete on 30th of Bhadra when there was a dispute at home regarding the issue of citizenship. He was absconding after the murder and was arrested by the police and made public.
The police have also detained Jaykishor’s father Shivnarayan for investigation. According to the police, Tetridevi is Shivnarayan’s first wife. After having no children from her, Shivnarayan got married again. Jaykishor is the child of his second wife.
Even after 30 years of marriage, Shivnarayan did not acquire the citizenship of Tetari Devi. The police concluded that Shivnarayan did not get citizenship due to the pressure of his younger wife and son Jaikishore. Bara Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogti said that Tetari Devi was to be given a share of citizenship.
The police have remanded the two arrested for investigation.
