Makwanpur won the Jeetpursimara Cricket Cup title
Simara: Makwanpur Cricket Association has won the first Simara Cricket Cup title. Makwanpur won the title by defeating Parsa Cricket Association by 7 wickets in the final match held on Saturday at SEZ Cricket Ground located in Jeetpursimara 4.
Makwanpur played an excellent game while winning the title by stopping Parsa who chose to bat after winning the toss. Parsa, who entered the finals as Group ‘A’ winners, batted first and scored 90 runs losing all the wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
While Suraj Patel scored 45 and Hashim Ansari scored 10 runs for Parsa, other batsmen could not score double figures. Ashim Shrestha of Makwanpur took three wickets, Piyush Sharma took two wickets, Bishal Phuyal and Rohit Thakur took one wicket each while stopping Parsa.
Makwanpur, who entered the field with a target of 91 runs given by Parsa, won in 12.1 overs. For team, Takshak Simkhada scored 30 runs, Bishal Phuyal scored 15 runs and Saksham Bastakoti scored 14 unbeaten runs. Samsad Mansuri alone took three wickets for Parsa.
The title winner, Makwanpur, received 1 lakh with a trophy, while the runner-up, Parsa, received 50,000 in cash. Similarly, Shubh Kansakar of Makwanpur was declared the Player of the Tournament and Best Batter, while Santosh Yadav of Khukuri Cricket Club Bhairahawa was declared the Best Bowler. Makwanpur’s Vishal Phuyal received the player of the match award for the final match.
Former Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of the Constituent Assembly Purushottam Paudel, Member of the Constituent Assembly Jairam Dahal, Member of the Madhes Provincial Assembly Devnarayan Chaudhary, CPN-UML Madhes Provincial Secretary Manoj Paudel and others distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up players.
In the closing ceremony, the organizers honored the former coach of Simara Women’s Cricket Club, Vishnu Lamichhane, along with female cricketer, former-captain of Simara Cricket Club, Nazir Hussain.
6 teams participated in the competition organized by Abhiyan Nepal and organized with the support of Jeetpursimara sub-metropolitan city.
