Birgunj Metropolitan City Directs Schools to Stop Charging Students for Saraswati Puja

Birgunj: The Birgunj Metropolitan City has directed schools to immediately stop collecting donations or fees from students for the upcoming Saraswati Puja.
Issuing a notice on Friday, Aanand Lamichhane, Chief of the Metropolitan City’s Education Administration Division, urged schools not to raise funds for cultural programs or other activities under the pretext of Saraswati Puja.
The Metropolitan office stated that this directive follows complaints regarding such activities taking place within schools.
In the notice addressed to all community and private schools within the metropolis, it was clearly stated that no fees or donations may be collected under any pretext other than those permitted by the Education Act and regulations. Schools have also been instructed to immediately refund any amount already collected from parents or students in the name of the puja.
The Metropolitan City has advised that programs related to the puja should be conducted only in a dignified, organized manner and in alignment with educational objectives.
