Garima Murder Case: Investigation Begins Under SSP Dhakal
Simara: The investigation committee formed to look into the Garima murder case and related events has sped up its work. The Madhesh Province Police Office formed a three member committee led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhu Prasad Dhakal, which has arrived in Bara to carry out the investigation.
The committee includes Police Inspector Babindra Newang and Senior Sub-Inspector Rupak Mainali as members. The group is closely investigating the rape and murder incident, as well as the sharing of a minor’s video on social media. Police Constable Kumar Bik, who was found involved in uploading the minor’s video online, has been taken into custody for legal action.
According to SSP Dhakal, legal proceedings against Bik have started under the Personal Privacy Act, 2075 and the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063. The committee is helping with the investigation to make sure the victim’s family gets justice and the guilty face strict punishment.
In connection with this sensitive case, police have detained nine people so far, including seven men and two women. Among those arrested are two minors, a 16 year old boy has already confessed to the crime. He stated that another 14 year old boy was also involved. Police are continuing deep questioning and collecting evidence from all the detained people.
