Nijgadh: Woman Dies from Husband’s Assault, Suspect Arrested
Simara: A 47-year-old woman, Sukumaya Moktan died in Ramthali, Nijgadh Municipality-12, Bara, after being beaten by her husband during a domestic dispute.
According to police, 55-year-old Bijay Moktan assaulted his wife with a piece of stick on Wednesday night during an argument. Following the assault, a healthcare worker from a local medical clinic was called to the residence to examine the injured woman.
After receiving basic medical treatment and eating dinner around 8:00 PM, she went to sleep. However, when her husband attempted to wake her up at around 4:00 AM on Thursday, she was found dead.
Following her death, Bijay informed the Ratanpur Temporary Police Post about the incident himself. Upon receiving the news, a police team led by an Assistant Inspector alongside an Inspector from the Nijgadh Area Police Office dispatched to the scene.
Police have sent the body to the Bara Provincial Hospital for an autopsy and taken Bijay into custody for further investigation into the assault.
