International Vetran Cup starts in Simara, Chitwan and Simara in semi-finals
Simara: The 2nd International Vetran Cup has started in Simara. The competition organized by Simara Vetran Club in memory of Late Manjudevi Gupta started from Wednesday.
Simara Vetran B and Chitwan have won the opening match of the tournament which started at Simara Stadium. Simara defeated Bagmati Vetran 8-0 and Chitwan defeated Nagasoti Vetran Hetauda 2-1.
While defeating Bagmati by a wide margin, Gopi Prasad Bhatt alone scored five goals for Simara while Rajkumar Ghising, Vikarn Shrestha and Hari Chaudhary scored one goal each. Simara, who scored 3 goals in the first half, added five goals in the second half and won a wide victory. Simara’s Gopi Prasad was declared the man of the match. The award was distributed to him by Shobha Lama, a member of the Provincial Assembly.
Similarly, Bharat Gurung and Yamu Rana scored one goal each for Chitwan who defeated Hetauda. Sulabjung Rana scored a goal for Hetauda. Chitwan won in the second half of the match which ended in a goalless draw.
Chitwan’s Bharat Gurung was declared the man of the match. The award was distributed to him by Hira Bahadur Gurung, Ward President of Jitpursimara sub-metropolitan ward number 1.
As part of the competition, 6 matches will be played on Thursday. According to the organizers, the first match will be between Simara Vetran A and Birgunj Youth Academy, second Vetran City Birgunj and Bhutan Devi Vetran, third Birgunj City Parsa and Kalbhairav Vetran Hetauda, fourth Kathmandu Vetran and Calcutta Vetran India, fifth Morang Vetran and Abhishek Church Parasi and sixth Devils Veliscent Pokhara and The match will be between Darjeeling Veteran India.
Sixteen teams, including two from India, are participating in the competition, which will be held until Asoj 1. The winner of the competition will receive 150,000 and the runner-up will receive 75,000 cash.
Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by former Labor and Employment Minister Kisan Shrestha. Madhes Assembly member Lama, Bara Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Katuwal, Bara Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogti, District Police Office Simara Chief Yuvraj Timilsina, Late Manjudevi’s son Shyambabu Gupta, Bara District Footwal Association President Ramchandra Lama, Jitpursimara 1 President Gurung, Chairman of Ward No. 16, Haridev Kharel, Chairman of Ward No. 5, Dipendra Chaudhary, Jitpursimara Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mohan Sharma, UR Gold Premium Masala Tea owner Umesh Chaulagai and others were present.
