International Simara Vetran Cup title to Morang , Chitwan stunned
Simara: Morang Vetran Club has won the second international Simara Veteran Cup football tournament. Morang won the title by stunning Chitwan 2-0 in the final match held at Simara Stadium on Saturday.
Denim Rai and Vinod Dhimal scored one goal each for Morang. In the scheduled 50-minute match, Morang took the lead with Denim’s goal. Denim gave the lead to the team by scoring in the 13th minute of the game.
Dhimal scored the second goal for Morang in the 33rd minute of the exciting title clash. The ball he hit from outside the box hit the net directly. Despite creating many opportunities to score goals in a competitive game, Chitwan’s players failed to finish.
Title winner Morang received 150,000 with a trophy and runner-up Chiwan received 75,000 with a trophy. Morang dominated the category awards. Denim Rai from Morang, best goalkeeper Min Bahadur Basnet from Morang, best defender Ramesh Kumar Basnet from Morang were declared the best player of the tournament.
Similarly, while Yamu Rana of Chitwan was declared the best midfield player, Gopi Prasad Bhatt of Simara Vetran received the title of highest scorer. He scored five goals during the tournament

Prizes were distributed to the winner, runner-up and the sportspersons by youth social worker Shyambabu Gupta of Simara, Deputy Superintendent of District Police Office Simara Yuvraj Timilsina , Rajkapur Raut of Simara Veteran Club, Resham Tiwari President of Nepal Journalist Federation Bara, Ravindra Khakurel, Ward Committee President of CPN UML Jitpursimara 2 and others.
In memory of late Manjudevi Gupta, Simara Veteran Club has organized the competition from Bhadra 29. 16 teams including two from India participated in the competition.
Earlier, the final match was inaugurated by the chief guest Gupta. Inaugurating the game, Gupta said that veteran football should be made commercial.
