Women cricketers Sana and Alisha welcomed at Simara Airport
Simara: Two players of the U-19 National Women’s Cricket Team, who successfully qualified for the Women’s U-19 World Cup, were welcomed at the Simara airport in Bara on Saturday. The two players, opener Sana Praveen and wicketkeeper Alisha Kumari Yadav, were welcomed while returning to their home via air from Kathmandu.
Sana is from Birgunj, while Alisha hails from Kalaiya. They were greeted by their parents, family members, Subash Jaiswal, treasurer of the Madhesh Province Cricket Association, officials from the Bara and Parsa District Cricket Associations, players, and sports enthusiasts.
In the UAE-hosted Women’s U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers, Nepal secured their spot in the World Cup by defeating the host team by eight wickets. In the final, during the historic victory against the UAE, Sana from Birgunj remained unbeaten, scoring 35 runs.
Speaking to the media in Simara, Sanaa expressed her happiness about creating history. Alisha also shared that this achievement is the biggest and most important milestone for the Nepali women’s team.
Similarly, the Mayor of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City, Binod Sah, honored Alisha as soon as she arrived in Kalaiya.
