Truck Driver Killed in Wild Elephant Attack

Simara: A person was killed in a wild elephant attack on the Pathlaiya–Nijgadh road section of Bara district on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Rajkumar Chaudhary, a resident of Jeetpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 1.
According to Khem Nepal, the acting spokesperson and police inspector at the Bara District Police Office, the elephant attacked after attempting to charge at a truck. Chaudhary reportedly got out of the truck and tried to flee, but was fatally attacked by the elephant.
The incident occurred at an area known as “12 Kilo” along the highway. The movement of elephants in the area has affected transportation since Sunday night.
Security personnel from the Nepal Police and the Nepal Army had been trying to drive the elephant back into the forest. However, the animal returned to the highway on Monday morning and attacked Chaudhary.
The elephant also overturned two vehicles in the area, further disrupting traffic along the busy highway.
