Dasain begins, Jamra is kept today

Simara: Badadasain has started from today (Monday). An event is being organized on the first day of Dasai, which is celebrated from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada to Purnima every year. In the Pooja room or Dasain house, which is covered with cow dung, sand or soil is brought from a holy river or a clean place and the jamra is kept in a ritual manner.

The puja begins with the ritualistic Vedic installation of lamps, kalash and Ganesha, and invoking Durga, the goddess of power. According to the Nepal Panchang Jury Committee, the day of Ghatasthapana is auspicious at 10:23 in the morning.

Navratri starts from the day of Ghatasthapana. Durga’s three forms, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati, are ritually worshiped throughout Navratri. There is a tradition of worshiping Mahakali Shakti, Mahalakshmi Dhandhanya and Aishwarya and Mahasaraswati as symbols of knowledge and wisdom.

Shailaputri is worshiped on the first day of Navratri, Brahmacharini on the second day, Chandraghanta on the third day, Kushmanda on the fourth day, Skandamata on the fifth day, Katyayani on the sixth day, Kalratri on the seventh day, Mahagauri on the eighth day and Siddhidatri on the ninth day.
