Nepal Police Club and Machhindra Football Club are competing for the title
Simara: The final match of the 14th edition of Jagdamba Jeetpursimara Gold Cup will be held on Monday evening at Simara Stadium. Departmental team Nepal Police Club and Machhindra Football Club are competing for the title of the competition.
Both the teams who are going to play the final have not been able to lift the Jeetpursimara Gold Cup title so far. Therefore, both teams have taken the final match as an opportunity to create history.
This year too, the organizers will get a new team as the title winner, and the team that lifts the title will also write their names in the list of winners of the Jeetpursimara Gold Cup.
Police entered the finals of Jeetpursimara Gold Cup for the second time after eight years, while Machhindra came close to the title for the first time.
Earlier, Police, who had entered the finals of Ruslan 6th Simara Gold Cup, lost 2-0 to Tribhuvan Army Club and were deprived of the title.
On the other hand, Machhindra was eliminated from the semi-finals of Magic Moments 4th Simara Gold Cup. Machhindra came back to Simara after 10 years after losing 1-0 to Manang Marsyangdi Club.
In the first match, the police who defeated the host Nawajanjagriti Club and the second match against the APF Club, who are in the title race, have less chance of getting the support of the home audience in the final match. Even in the match against APF, the home audience did not favor the police. Police coach Ghimire says that the support of the audience is also important to win the final.
Machhindra’s coach, Santosh Neupane, said that he is very hopeful of winning the title by defeating Police. “We have been preparing for three months to win five titles this season,” Neupane said, “We have already won three. This is the fourth, we will win anyhow. Neupane said that although Police are a strong competitor, he is confident of lifting the title due to the rhythm of his team and the performance of his players.
The coaches and captains of both teams say that the final match will be exciting even for the sports fans. It is estimated that more than 10,000 spectators will attend the final match of the Gold Cup. The same number of spectators were present in the final match of the previous edition.
The organizers are preparing for the final match, which will be held in the presence of a large number of spectators. The president of the organizer club, Ramchandra Lama, said that preparations are being made to make the closing ceremony grand.
