Justice for Hasina Khatun: Protesters gather at District Police Office

Janakpur: The family of Haseena Khatun, a 25-year-old woman from Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, has been demanding justice over her suspicious death.
Khatun’s maternal side, relatives, and rights activists gathered in front of the main gate of the Dhanusha District Police Office, calling for the immediate arrest of the culprit and stringent legal action.
Khatun was found dead in her own home on Fagun 13, with her in-laws claiming it was a suicide, while her maternal side alleged it was a premeditated murder.
The family claims that Khatun was frequently subjected to domestic disputes over dowry and that the tension led to her death. Likhat Pravin, the victim’s sister-in-law, who participated in the protest, made serious allegations about the nature and background of the incident.
According to Pravin, Khatun’s husband, Shahnawaz Shesh (Munna), his mother, and sister were directly involved in her murder. Pravin stated that despite receiving a dowry of Rs 800,000 two years ago, Khatun was constantly subjected to mental and physical torture for more money.
Additionally Pravin alleged that Khatun’s husband was planning to marry another woman and had killed Khatun as she was an obstacle to his plans.
The Dhanusha police have taken the incident seriously and initiated an investigation.
The police have taken Khatun’s husband, Shahnavaz Shesh, into custody for questioning. The police stated that they will only reveal the true facts of the incident after a thorough examination of the evidence, statements from various parties, and the post-mortem report.
