Madhesh Province Wins 6 Medals in 16th President Running Shield Taekwondo

Simara: Madhesh Province performed very well in the Taekwondo tournament at the 16th President Running Shield in Kathmandu. The team won a total of six medals, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
The matches took place at the Nepal Taekwondo Association covered hall in Satdobato. This was a proud moment for Madhesh Province, especially after the team did not do as well as expected in the athletics events.
For Madhesh Province, Samir Nepali from Bara won a gold medal in the men’s 45 kg category. Khushi Thakur from Dhanusha won the second gold medal in the women’s 52 kg category.
Additionally Rigal Bohora from Bara won a silver medal in the women’s 46 kg category, and Dil Bahadur Tamang, also from Bara, won silver in the men’s 59 kg category. The two bronze medals were won by Katrina Phuyal from Mahottari in the women’s 49 kg category and Anis Yadav from Siraha in the men’s 55 kg category.

A total of 12 players from Madhesh Province took part in the tournament, including six men and six women. Out of these players, 10 competed in the Kyorugi category and two competed in the Poomsae category.
In the final medal standing for Taekwondo, Madhesh Province finished in third place. Bagmati Province came first with five gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. Sudurpashchim Province took second place with two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
Lumbini Province finished fourth with one gold, three silver and five bronze. While Koshi Province and Gandaki Province took fifth and sixth places with one gold, one silver and four bronze. Karnali Province finished last in seventh place with three bronze medals.
