Gang of counterfeit notes arrested

Kalaiya: Police have arrested a gang active in dealing in counterfeit notes. The Special Task Force (STF) of the police has arrested five members of the gang from Nijgadh and Rautahat. Police have arrested two persons from Gujra Municipality of Rautahat on the basis of their statements and three others staying at Tara Inn Hotel in Nijgadh. Among the arrested are Sagar Shukla, 24, of Bara Kalaiya Sub-Metropolis-9, Raju Kushwaha, 25, of Bishrampur Municipality-5 and Bisheshwor Prasad Chaudhary, 36, of Karaiyamai Municipality-5. Based on their statements, police arrested Sunil Kumar Ram, 24, and Rabindra Kumar Chaudhary, 36, of Baluwa Tol in Gujra Municipality-3 of Rautahat. Police have recovered 25 counterfeit notes of one thousand Nepali rupees, 39 pieces of one thousand genuine notes and nine thousand three hundred pieces of paper kept in a state of readiness for printing. They also seized a Scorpio vehicle (Ba 14 Cha 9382), two motorcycles with Ba 91 Pa 7435 and Pradesh 2.03.001 Pa 4265 Nepali number plates and one Indian motorcycle (BR 05 Q 4610).

According to the police, the gang was active in printing counterfeit notes from the machine and selling them in the market. While the festival was approaching, a police team conducted a secret operation in Nijgadh and arrested them. According to Bara Superintendent of Police Dipendra Shahi, the Bara police have started a case against them for money laundering. He was arrested and made public by the police along with notes.
