Curfew lifted till 10 pm in Birgunj

Simara: The district administration office Parsa has lifted the curfew imposed in some areas of Birgunj for 11 hours. According to the decision of the district security committee meeting, the administration has removed the curfew from 11 am to 10 pm on Wednesday.

The local administration imposed a curfew from 5 pm on Monday after a dispute arose in Birgunj over the clash between two religious communities during the worshiping of the idol of Saraswati on 3rd Falgun in Motipur of Ishanath Municipality of Rautahat. The administration imposed a curfew to control the clash between the two parties and to balance the situation in order to disrupt the social harmony.

The administration had earlier relaxed the curfew for four hours from 6 am to 10 am on Tuesday. The administration is relaxing the curfew after the dispute is settled. The all-party meeting held at the district administration office on Tuesday also decided to make a collective effort to prevent the situation of Birgunj from deteriorating.
