Bara’s Adil Ansari acquitted of spot fixing
Simara: Adil Ansari, from Bara who was accused of spot-fixing when he was about to be established as an all-rounder of the Nepali national team, has been acquitted. Ansari was acquitted by the Kathmandu District Court on the grounds that the charges were not met.
Ansari, a resident of Kishunpur, Simraungadh Municipality 3, was accused of spot-fixing while bowling in the Nepal T20 League held last year. A complaint was filed saying that he played for Janakpur Royals and bowled no ball after taking money.
He was arrested from Saptari on Magh 9 last year on the charge of spot fixing. Within a month of his arrest, he was released on a three lakh bond. Since then, there has been a discussion about what will happen to the charges against him.
Adil, who is emerging as a ‘match winner’ in the Nepali national team, was acquitted by the single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Kamal Prasad Pokharel. It has been held that the claim to confirm the charges against him has not reached. Along with Adil, former national record player Mehbub Aalam and three others who were tried on the same charge have also been acquitted.
With the acquittal of Adil, those who closely watch Nepali cricket are happy. Discussions have started going on that Adil should be brought to the national team immediately and preparations should be made for the World Cup. Adil is famous among cricket fans. Adil’s helicopter shot is very popular. He used to hit the shot in the style of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Adil, who made his ODI debut against USA on June 11, 2022, played his last match against Namibia on July 16, 2022. Similarly, he made his debut against Papua New Guinea on March 31, 2022 and played his last match against Kenya on August 30, 2022.
