Simara: Adil Ansari, from Bara who was accused of spot-fixing when he was about to be established as an all-rounder of the Nepali national team, has been acquitted. Ansari was acquitted by the Kathmandu District Court on the grounds that the charges were not met.

Ansari, a resident of Kishunpur, Simraungadh Municipality 3, was accused of spot-fixing while bowling in the Nepal T20 League held last year. A complaint was filed saying that he played for Janakpur Royals and bowled no ball after taking money.

He was arrested from Saptari on Magh 9 last year on the charge of spot fixing. Within a month of his arrest, he was released on a three lakh bond. Since then, there has been a discussion about what will happen to the charges against him.

Adil, who is emerging as a ‘match winner’ in the Nepali national team, was acquitted by the single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Kamal Prasad Pokharel.
