Jeetpursimara Gold Cup: Opening match between Army and Birgunj

Simara: Preparations for the 14th edition of Jeetpursimara Gold Cup, which will start today at the Simara Stadium, have been completed. Organizing a press conference on Friday evening, the organizer Nawajanjagriti Yuwa Club informed that all the preparations for the competition have been completed.  

President of the club, Ramchandra Lama, informed that the youth and sports minister of the federal government, Birajbhakta Shrestha, will inaugurate the competition at 5 pm on Saturday. In the inaugural program, cultural tableaus from different areas of Bara district will be displayed.

The first match of the tournament will be between Tribhuvan Army Football Club and Birgunj United Club. According to the organizer, Action Sports will broadcast live all the matches of the tournament which will start from 6:30 pm under flood light.

Defending champion Church Boys United, Tribhuvan Army, Nepal Police Club, Friends Club and Machindra Club will participate in the tournament which will be held till 3rd of Baisakh. The chairman of the organizing club Ramchandra Lama informed that 10 teams will participate including the departmental club APF of the Armed Police, Makwanpur 11 Hetauda, Birgunj United Club Birgunj, Salhesh Youth Club of Siraha and the organizer Navjanajagruti Youth Club.

The winner of the competition will receive Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up Rs 5 lakh along with trophy. The best player of the tournament will receive a motorcycle, while the highest scorer and the best goalkeeper will receive Rs. 25,000 each.

The man of the match of each match will receive a trophy with 10,000 cash. Shambhu Mandal, Campus Head of Shubharambha College of Management in Simara, which sponsored the man of the match award, said that he was happy to be associated with Jeetpursimara Gold Cup as sports are an integral part of education and said that it will continue in the future.

The organizers have also started food festival from last year to increase the attraction of the audience in the night football, and this year also they will continue the food festival with the football club in collaboration with the hotel and tourism business association Bara. Free entry with reservation seats for senior citizens and persons with disabilities and 50 percent discount for students.
