Bagmati stunned, APF enters in final
Simara: Nepal APF Club Jagdamba has entered the final of the 12th Jeetpursimara Gold Cup by stunning Bagmati Youth Club, Sarlahi. In the second semi-final match played at Simara Stadium on Thursday, APF entered the final with a 4-1 victory over Bagmati.
After a comfortable victory over Bagmati, APF will now compete with New Road Team (NRT) for the title. In the first semi-final match, NRT has secured its place in the last two by beating the organizers 3-2. The clash between the two teams will take place on Saturday.
APF has reached the final for the second time in Jeetpursimara Gold Cup while NRT has reached the last two for the first time. APF, which entered the final in the second edition of the Gold Cup, was the runner-up. The title of the edition was lifted by Himalayan Sherpa. Armand Bedam scored twice in the APF title race for the second time. Two more for the APF remained in the name of Sabin Gurung and Pradip Lama. Anil Ranamagar scored a goal for Bagmati.
APF took the lead in the game because of goal by Sabin Gurung. In the 12th minute of the game, Sabin converted the ball inside the box into a goal. Shortly afterwards, APF added another goal. Armand Bedam scored APF’s second goal in the 16th minute. The departmental team made it 2-0 without being able to control the defense of Bagmati.
In the quarterfinals, Bagmati did not have a good start as they made it to the semi-finals beating Sankata Club. After defeating BFC Chitwan 2-1 and Sankata 1-0, Bagmati was seen as the team to win the title.
The APF took advantage of the poor start of Bagmati, which had the support of the domestic audience. Bagmati lost the chance to score in the 36 th minute of the match. Deepesh Chamling rai of Bagmati could not make good use of the cross arranged by Koira Florent. His shot came from above the crossbar.
Within minutes, Bagmati reduced the deficit. Anil Ranamagar of Bagmati scored in the 38th minute to put the team back in the game. Anil added another goal to make it 2-1.
APF, who entered the semifinals by beating Himalayan Sherpas, missed an opportunity to add a goal in the added time of the first half. APF was awarded a penalty after goalkeeper Priso from Bagmati pushed BK Tamang inside the box. APF’s Abhishek Lamichhane missed the opportunity to take advantage of the penalty. His shot was saved by goalkeeper Priso.
In the second half, Bagmati played an aggressive game. APF added the third goal in the 79th minute when Bagmati wasted some chances. Armand Bedam scored the third goal for the team and the second individual goal to make it 3-1. Armand’s head goal was excellent. This is Armand’s third goal in the competition. Earlier, Armand had scored a goal in the victory over Sherpa.
APF scored the fourth goal in the 83rd minute of the match in a comfortable victory over Bagmati. APF’s Pradip Lama scored the fourth goal for the team. After conceding two more goals in the last minute of the match, Bagmati returned home with a 4-1 defeat. Pradip Lama was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance for APF during the victory over Bagmati. He has received five thousand cash prizes.
