Simara: The government has decided to make national identity card compulsory in all districts of Madhes province to get pension.

The Pension Management Office under the Ministry of Finance has made National Identity Card mandatory for pension distribution. The office has written letter to Nepal Bank and National Commercial Bank to make necessary arrangements for this.

According to the correspondence, from Shawan 1st, it has been arranged that national identity card must be mandatory for pensioners of 28 districts including Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha and Saptari.

According to the notice published in the gazette on Asadh 10th last year, it is mentioned that the pensioners should submit their national identity card number to the respective bank for availing the service.

Accordingly, the Pension Management Office has written to the respective banks and requested them to update the National Identity Card number in IPMS so that it does not change until later. The letter also mentions that if the National Identity Card number is not up to date, the pension will be withheld.
